Personal Property Security Act, a statute used in many provinces, regulating the taking and enforcement of security.

How much does each service cost?

What are the software requirements for this website?
Windows XP SP3 and Internet Explorer 7 or higher is required to use PPSACanada.com. In addition, javascript and cookies must be enabled.
How do I know if I have the right version of Internet Explorer?
Click the pulldown box at the top of Internet explorer labeled 'Help', and choose 'About Internet Explorer'. The version listed must be 7 or greater to use this website.
How secure is this website?
PPSACanada.com employs SHA2 encryption (using Secured Sockets Layer, or SSL technology) to secure the website from intruders, which is the most advanced security available on the Internet.
How do I get a username and password?
Once you sign up with PPSACanada.com, we will send you a username and password within one business day, and you may begin using the website.
Do I need to be a high-volume user?
No, you do not need to be a *high-volume* user. However we do require that clients use their accounts on a regular basis and maintain a certain level of activity.
Clients who anticipate very infrequent use of our services should visit our sister site www.easyppsa.com instead. EasyPPSA.com allows you to pay as you go by credit card.
Who do I call for help?
If you wish to speak to us instead of sending an email, call 416-225-5511, and press '2'.
How do I get billed?
At the end of each month, an invoice will be sent to you detailing each service and the applicable charges.
How can I pay my bill?
Currently, payment must be in the form of a cheque, and mailed to the return address on the invoice
PPSA Searches
How do I view the results of my search?
Click on Display Results button. You will be presented with a list of searches that are either in progress or completed. If a search is completed, you may click on its ID number. If a search is in progress, click the 'Refresh' button in your browser periodically (ie. every 30-60 seconds) to update the status of the search.
When can I submit searches?
You may submit a search at any time. Ontario searches are processed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. For further information, check our hours of operation.
Why is my VIN "invalid"?
Most motor vehicle VINs conform to a standard format. Our system automatically validates your VIN to make sure it conforms to this format. This helps screen out data entry errors. In the event that you are SURE that you have entered your VIN correctly then you may select "Validate VIN - No" and our system will by-pass the the validation check.
Should my search be entered in upper or lowercase?
Either is acceptable. When a search is submitted, all text entered is converted to uppercase
What does 'Record Since' mean?
You may specify a date in the "Record Since" field if you want to view results after a particular date.
This message appears under one of the following two circumstances:

The number of pages of results exceeds 40 and is considered "high volume"; it will be sent via the postal service.
You selected "Certified - Yes" on the Enter Search page. In this case, the results will be sent via the postal service.

What is a '1C', '2C', or '3C'?
A '1C' registration is a new registration in Ontario. A '2C' registration refers to any of a number of amendments to a '1C' - for example a discharge, amendment, or assignment. A '3C' refers to the verification statement that is sent to the registering agent after any '1C' or '2C' is completed.
Can I register a PPSA in a province other than Ontario?
Yes. Click the 'Other Provinces' tab, and choose the appropriate province for your PPSA registration.
When do I receive a verification from the government for a PPSA registration?
You will receive a verification within approximately one week of submitting the registration. Times largely depend on the province that is sending the verification.
Where can a view my previous Ontario PPSA registrations?
Click on the link labelled '1C Registrations: All' to view previous Ontario registrations.
What does 'Caution Filing' mean?

What is a 'Post-Search', and how does it relate to a PPSA registration?
A Post-Search is a PPSA search conducted immediately after a PPSA registration. It is used to show proof of priority in a family of registrations against a specific debtor or piece of collateral. It is also used to be sure that two liens have not been registered by two different secured parties on the same serial collateral.
